Theoretical predictions and experimental measurements are reported for the problem of ice formation on parallel, vertical tubes situated in a cross flow of cold water. The system has application to the damming of northern rivers. The results suggest that the theoretical model - which includes a description of occlusion - is capable of predicting ice growth over the range of conditions tested in the laboratory.
