摘要：

A review is presented of congenital rubella. Fetal infection with this virus is often devastating. Clinical manifestations are widespread, including cataracts, cardiovascular lesions, encephalitis, purpura, thrombocytopenia and long bone radiolucencies upon X-ray. In the neonate, isolation of the virus is the most common diagnostic modality; demonstration of specific immunoglobulin-M antibody is equally reliable. Live attenuated rubella vaccine is an effective means of protection against the disease.
