A CONSISTENT DESCRIPTION OF MOMENTUM-REGULARIZED SOLITONIC SOLUTIONS IN THE NAMBU-JONA-LASINIO MODEL

The Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model is solved self-consistently using a semi-bosonized form of the effective action. Solitonic solutions with baryon number B=1 are evaluated and their dependence on the regularization scheme is investigated. To this end a regularization method is suggested in which vacuum and solitonic sector can be treated on equal footing. Sharp and soft O(3)- and O(4)-invariant cutoffs are used and the results are compared with those obtained by proper-time regularization. For physically relevant constituent quark masses solitons with rather similar properties emerge in all the schemes used. Only the Σ-commutator appears to be sensitive to the particular form of regularization. © 1990.
