THE HOPPING MOTION OF THE OFF-CENTER SELF-TRAPPED EXCITONS IN ALKALI-HALIDE CRYSTALS

摘要
A brief review of the off-center self-trapped exciton in alkali halide crystals is presented, with particular emphasis on the two groups of alkali halides: group I. characterized by a small off-center shift of the Vk core. and group II. by a larger shift. Activation energies for the hopping motion of self-trapped excitons in NaCl, NaBr. KCl and KBr are calculated and the results are in satisfactory agreement with experiment. It is suggested that alkali halides of group I generally have smaller activation energies than those of group II. © 1990.
