A model is developed which relates critical current densities J(c) in YBaCuO ceramics to the geometrical size of the sample via the motion of flux lines. Flux lines move with velocity upsilon when the Lorentz force F(L) acting on them exceeds their pinning force F(p). The model further explains the temperature dependence of J(c) and the voltage-current characteristic U(J,T) with temperature T as parameter.
