WATER REACTIONS OF SUPERCONDUCTING BI2SR2CACU2O8 PHASE AT 0-DEGREES-C AND AMBIENT-TEMPERATURE

摘要
We show that the superconducting Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8 phase powder is sensitive to water at ambient temperature and even at O°C. The powder decomposes in water to CuO, Sr(OH)2, Ca(OH)2 and CuBi2O8. The superconductivity of Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8 samples is greatly degraded by the interaction with water. The previously reported SBSC plastic solution is still effective in protecting the Bi system superconducting samples in the laboratory. © 1990.
