DETERMINATION OF THE DIFFUSION-COEFFICIENT OF AL IN AN FE-AL ALLOY BY AUGER SPECTROMETRY

摘要
The surface of a monocrystalline Fe-20at%Al alloy was studied by Auger electron spectroscopy. The segregation kinetics of aluminium recorded at several temperatures allowed us to determine the activation energy of aluminium in the ferromagnetic state of the alloy. Using Crank's equation we obtained Q = 196.5 ± 10 kJ mol for the activation energy and the pre-exponential factor was evaluated as D0 = 5.31 × 10 -4 cm2 s. These values are in good agreement with results obtained by other authors. © 1990.
