摘要
The ability of straight-chain amines with carbon chain lengths between three and 14 to inhibit corrosion on steel is examined by using weight loss, polarization resistance and Tafel plot measurements. The inhibitive capability increases with carbon number in the chain to about 10 carbons. At higher numbers little increase or a decrease occurs in the ability to inhibit corrosion. Fourier transform infrared spectra of the amines on the metallic surface were used to determine the mechanism of bonding to the metallic surface.
