COMPARATIVE HISTOPATHOLOGY OF A GRANULOSIS AND A NUCLEAR POLYHEDROSIS OF SPODOPTERA FRUGIPERDA

A histopathological study of two virus diseases of the fall armyworm, Spodoptera frugiperda, revealed that the granulosis virus attacks only the fat body, causes a proliferation of cells, and requires a relatively long time to produce mortality; however, the nuclear-polyhedrosis virus attacks a wide variety of tissues, does not cause a proliferation of cells, and produces mortality in a relatively short period of time. © 1968.
