This work describes the results of a study carried out in summer/autumn 1988 on Bagous (Bagous) rufimanus Hoffmann in Lago di Candia (northern Italy), Where adults (males and females) larvae and pupae were observed on the floating leaved hydrophyte Trapa natans L.. The morphological characteristics of thc pre-imaginal stages are described and illustrated. Some biological observations on the life-cycle of the species which is closely related to the growth of the waterchestnut are also reported.
