摘要
Freed by the 1984 Cable Act from local rate regulation and competition from telephone companies, cable has emerged as the dominant medium in the USA. This article analyses antitrust implications of pay cable's recent consolidation across the area of programme distribution. Findings suggest that pay distribution falls within the Justice Department's definition of a 'concentrated' industry, but that the present political atmosphere is unfriendly towards any antitrust remedy.
