CHIRAL AND HEAVY-QUARK SYMMETRY VIOLATION IN B-DECAYS

The most general lagrangian consistent with chiral, heavy quark, and strong interaction symmetries to order 1/M and to linear order in the SU(3) vector and axial currents is presented. Two new dimensionful and five dimensionless couplings arise at this order. The heavy to light flavor changing current is derived to the same order, giving rise to two additional dimensionful constants and six dimensionless ones. The dimensionless parameters are shown to be irrelevant at O(1/M). Analytic SU(3) counterterms are also considered. Form factors for D --> pi l nu and ($) over bar B pi l nu are computed at O(1/M, m(s)(0)) and O(M(0), m(s)(1)) The eight decay constants f(D), f(Ds), f(D)*, f(D)*, f(B), f(Bs), f(B)* and f(Bs)* are computed at 0(1/M, m,) in terms of seven parameters which can be determined by {($) over bar B, D} --> {($) over bar K, pi}l ($) over bar nu decays, and two undetermined counterterms. The ratio R(1) = (f(Bs)/f(B))/(f(Ds)/f(D)) is expressed in terms of four parameters.
