摘要
An outdoor smog chamber is described which uses natural conditions of light, temperature, and humidity to more closely simulate conditions in urban atmospheres. This 312 m**3, dual chamber is used to perform a number of studies of hydrocarbon/oxides of nitrogen/ozone systems. The performance of the outdoor chamber is discussed. Mathematical modeling is used to compare outdoor and indoor chamber experiments. The outdoor chamber appears to exhibit very low heterogeneous character. The effects of natural light intensity variations on urban smog systems are discussed. Diurnal light intensity effects may be significant for oxidant control strategies derived from smog chamber studies.
