摘要
A conventional split/splitless injector is modified to permit the direct introduction of filter-borne diesel particulate emissions into a capillary gas chromatograph. The hydrocarbons associated with the particulate are vaporized in the injector and pass onto a capillary column where those compounds characteristic of unburned fuel are separated from those characteristic of unburned lubricating oil. This method demonstrates that a significant proportion of diesel particulate emissions can originate from unburned oil.
