摘要
Vanadium-containing silica glasses were synthesized using two types of melting (electric arc and electric furnace). Various levels of dopants were used and the obtained glasses did not exhibit any phase distinct from the glassy matrix. Both optical absorption and electron spin resonance (ESR) data are significantly different from those obtained in multicomponent oxide glasses. There is no evidence for the formation of vanadyl complexes. Vanadium ions occur in the 5 plus and 4 plus oxidation states and are suggested to be in fourfold coordination in both cases.
