SYNTHESIS OF THE FIRST 2H-SELENETE COMPLEXES, DECOMPLEXATION AND DIMERIZATION TO DIHYDRO-1,2-DISELENINE

Pentacarbonyltungsten-coordinated selenobenzaldehydes, (CO)(5)W[Se=C(C(6)H(4)R-p)H](R = OMe, H, CF3), react with Bu(t)S-C drop C-SBu(t) by addition of the C drop C to the Se=C bond to give 2H-selenete complexes; treatment of the;selenete complex (R=H) with NEt(4)Br affords the uncoordinated 2H-selenete and a 3,4-dihydro-1,2-diselenine.
