ON THE PRIMARY MECHANISM OF SURFACE ROUGHENING - THE AG(110) CASE

摘要
The surface roughening transition of Ag(110) is investigated using energy-resolved He beam scattering. The analysis is carried out on the specular peak along the [001] crystal direction and in the out-of-phase condition. Anomalous decreasing of the peak intensity above 700 K is observed. The behavior of the incoherent intensity rules out anharmonic effects. Finally, peak shape analysis sets the roughening temperature at 910 +/- 15 K.
