APPLYING NIR SPECTROSCOPY FOR EVALUATION OF THE HARDWOOD SOFTWOOD RATIO AND RESIN CONTENT IN CHIP MIXTURES

摘要
Using NIR spectroscopy allows quantifying the portion of urea-formaldehyde resin at chips and the mixing ratio of hardwood to softwood. The correlation between radiation absorption and solid resin portion or the mixing ratio of hardwood to softwood resp. is higher with reflection values of several wave lengths applied than with only one applied. For urea resin detection wave lengths of 2020 nm, 1900 nm and 2110 nm turned out to be most suitable. For determination of the mixing ratio of hardwood to softwood wave lengths of 1300 nm, 1350 nm and 1410 nm can be used. By means of a modified IR moisture meter this method could be applied in industry.
