Superconductivity has been detected in a Ca-based 2-1-2-6 compound not doped with Sr, La2-xCa1+xCu2O 6-x 2+δ(0≤x≤1.2), which was synthesized under high O2 pressure. The single-phase region is shifted toward larger x by increasing the O2 pressure during synthesis, and 0.09≤x≤0.25 is obtained at 400 atm. La1.75Ca1.25Cu2O6.01 has a Tc(zero) of 44.7 K and a Meissner volume fraction of about 12% when sintered at 1080°C under 400 atm O2. © 1990.
