摘要
The low pressure nickel hydrogen battery uses a hydriding alloy (MH) as a negative active material. A method for the evaluation of the MH electrode potential is proposed which is based on exploitation of the pressure-composition-temperature (PCT) curve. From studies of test electrodes incorporating hydridable alloys, the equilibrium potential evolution has been determined as a function of the electrode's state of charge. It appears that these evolutions are similar to the hydrogen pressure curves obtained in the solid-gas reaction. These results are in agreement with the theory. In a second step, the discharge potential curve can be deduced from the evolution of the equilibrium potential. Thus, the general shape of the discharge curve of the hydride electrode can be closely related to the slope of the alloy's pressure-composition isotherm.
