摘要
The International Decade for Natural Disaster Reduction (IDNDR) was designed to focus the attention of scientists, engineers and economists on the increasing losses and deaths occurring globally as a result of natural hazards. Geomorphologists have considerable expertise in process studies and the mapping of precursors and antecedent conditions of surficial phenomena, and important understanding of ''magnitude and frequency'' concepts applied to the earth sciences. This paper examines several projects where geomorphologists provide significant contributions to interdisciplinary research, and suggests a framework for a comprehensive approach to natural hazards studies.
