We obtain three independent values of the effective vector coupling constant G'V for nuclear beta-decay by using various pieces of experimental data (the neutron life-time and the beta-decay asymmetry of polarized neutrons, data on the decays of kaons and hyperons, and the ft values of superallowed beta+ decays). For superallowed decays we discuss various analyzes of the data. The reliability and consistency of the values of G'V obtained in the different ways is assessed.
