摘要
Gas-phase polymerization reactions can be carried out in a vessel in which the resulting polymer powder is circulated by means of a helical ribbon agitator. In order to promote satisfactory reaction, both the product and the catalyst must be distributed uniformly. A study has been made of the circulation pattern of the powder by means of a radio pill tracking system from which it was deduced that the circulation is basically in plug flow with only a small spread of circulation times. An analysis is presented to permit the calculation of the time required to obtain the calculation of the time required to obtain a satisfactory distribution following the injection of a fresh pulse of catalyst.
