摘要
The feasibility of direct electrochemical conversion of carbon to electrical energy was demonstrated in a novel two-compartment high temperature fuel cell employing a stabilized zirconia solid electrolyte that transports the oxygen necessary for the oxidation of carbon. The cell was shown to provide electrical power under resistive load, and the observed open circuit potentials were close to the theoretically expected values.
