CONVERGENT CLOSE-COUPLING METHOD FOR ELECTRON-SCATTERING ON HELIUM

摘要
We apply the convergent close-coupling method to the calculation of electron scattering on the ground state of helium at a projectile energy of 30 eV. At this energy convergence in the differential cross sections for the n = 1, 2, 3 transitions is obtained by the use of 62 coupled target states. The target stat- - obtained by diagonalizing the target Hamiltonian in a two-electron Laguerre basis. resulting in square integrable negative and positive energy states. The calculated differential cross sections are in excellent quantitative agreement with experiment. No other available theory is able to achieve this to date.
