STUDY OF LASER RAMAN-SPECTRA OF NANOPARTICLES OF AGI AND HGI2

摘要
Laser Raman spectra of nanoparticles of AgI and HgI2 have been studied in comparison with the corresponding single crystal spectra. All the observed Raman lines of the AgI nanoparticles have been found to have shifted to lower frequencies and the intensity has been found to be changed compared to those of the bulk phase. In the case of HgI2 one of the Raman lines has shifted to higher frequency and the other to lower frequency. These results are discussed in the light of size effect and surface amorphousness and internal stress in small particles.
