EFFECTS OF ALLOYING IN THE CE(CU1-XAUX)6 (X LESS-THAN-OR-EQUAL-TO 0.25) SYSTEM

摘要
The authors present X-ray diffraction, electrical resistivity, thermopower, magnetic susceptibility and specific heat measurements on a series of Ce(Cu1-xAux)6 compounds with x<or=0.25. These measurements indicate that alloying produces an increase in cell volume and changes in the sd density of states. Thus, while CeCu6 has a non-magnetic ground state, addition of Au leads to the onset of magnetic order (e.g. TN approximately=2 K for the Au alloy with x=0.15). The results also reveal alloying with Au produces modifications in the crystalline electric field scheme.
