摘要
The clusters which exhibit the 5. 3. 2 point group symmetry over several stages of formation are postulated to provide the embryos for the formation of quasi-crystalline phases upon rapid solidification. The confusion principle is invoked for the prevention of aggregation of clusters to form the equilibrium periodic lattice. Nodules amenable for characterization by electron diffraction were obtained only when the thickness was greater than an undetermined critical value.
