摘要
These studies indicate that the Colotenango beds in Guatemala are a slightly tectonically deformed Late Tertiary fluvio-volcanic deposit, the sedimentary part of which consists of two major units each covered by volcaniclastics. From clast content the older section of the conglomerate appears to have as its source some part of the southern block of the Polochic fault because the northern block is predominantly a sedimentary complex. This older unit lies on the northern block of the main Polochic fault trace and could contain clasts deposited by paleo-drainages prior to major displacement across the fault.
