PRACTICAL ASPECTS IN THE UTILIZATION OF THE SADTLER-STANDARD-GAS-CHROMATOGRAPHY-RETENTION-INDEX-LIBRARY

摘要
Sadtler standard gas chromatographic programmed-temperature retention indices were shown to be reproducible on either Hewlett-Packard standard fused-silica open-tubular (FSOT) columns or laboratory-made apolar columns by holding the programmed-temperature gas chromatographic characteristic parameter rt0/beta equal to 0.013 and 0.052-degrees-C, respectively, where r denotes oven heating rate, t0 the gas hold-up time and beta the phase ratio. Nitrogen could be used instead of hydrogen as the carrier gas, and other experimental parameters, such as column length and inner diameter, stationary phase film thickness and initial oven temperature could also be varied to a certain extent. The average linear velocity of the carrier gas, unclearly specified in the Sadtler Standard Gas Chromatography Retention Index Library, was experimentally determined. Special precautions should be taken to ensure that the column used has been well deactivated.
