MEASUREMENT OF THE COLLISION-QUENCHED LIFETIME OF CO MOLECULES IN A FLAME AT ATMOSPHERIC-PRESSURE

摘要
Direct measurement of the quenching rate for CO molecules in a flame at atmospheric pressure has been made using laser-induced fluorescence. The CO molecules were excited from the ground X (1)SIGMA+ state to the B (1)SIGMA+ state in a two-photon process. The exciting photons at 230 nm were produced using a picosecond laser system with a pulse length of 10 ps. The emission decay of the resulting B (1)SIGMA+-A (1)PI fluorescence from 450 to 600 nm was detected, time-resolved, by a streak camera and the decay constant evaluated, yielding the effective lifetime of 200 ps in the reaction zone.
