DIRECT OBSERVATION OF DEFECT-INDUCED SURFACE COVALENCY IN IONIC COO(100)

摘要
The electronic structures of both cleaved and defective CoO (1 0 0) surfaces have been studied using synchrotron radiation. We report a direct observation of the reduction in the number of ionic CoO bonds by Ar+-ion bombardment, in conjunction with the appearance of strong covalent bonding at isolated oxygen vacancy defects on the CoO (1 0 0) surface. © 1990.
