摘要
Bound-state beta- decay was observed for the first time by storing bare Dy-163(66)66+ ions in a heavy-ion storage ring. From the number of Ho-163(67)66+ daughter ions, measured as a function of the storage time, a half-life of 47(-4)+5 d was derived. By comparing this result with reported half-lives for electron capture (EC) from the M1 and M2 shells of neutral Ho-163(67), bounds for both the Q(EC) value of neutral Ho-163(67) and for the electron-neutrino mass were set.
