摘要
Results on the Mg - Fe-interdiffusion in olivines at various temperatures and oxygen potentials are presented and discussed. It is shown that the proposed point defect model can be corroborated with the aid of these interdiffusion data D. It is only by a careful control of the independent thermodynamic variables that meaningful data on the interdiffusion in olivines are obtained, emphasizing again the application of point defect thermodynamics to geological processes.
