SEGMENTAL ANALYSIS OF CORONARY-ARTERIES WITH EQUIVALENT PLAQUE BURDEN BY INTRAVASCULAR ULTRASOUND IN PATIENTS WITH AND WITHOUT ANGIOGRAPHICALLY SIGNIFICANT CORONARY-ARTERY DISEASE

Segment-by-segment intravascular ultrasound was performed in the coronary arteries of 15 patients. In 8 of 9 patients who developed angiographically significant coronary artery disease, the slope of total vessel versus plaque areas for each se,oment was <0.70, and in 5 it was negative, while the slope was >0.70 in 5 of the 6 patients who did not have angiographically significant disease despite equivalent plaque burden.
