摘要
Administration of thyroid hormone to stage X premetamorphic tadpoles results in many changes in the pancreas including a drastic weight loss, decreased protein concentration, increased free amino acid pool, and increased protein degradation and. DNA synthesis. DNA concentration remains constant, and evidence is 'presented which demonstrates that cellular necrosis is responsible for the decrease in pancreatic mass. These transitions induced by thyroid hormone parallel those which occur at stages XIX to XXII during normal metamorphosis. These studies also suggest that the thyroid hormone may have little or no role in the subsequent differentiation of the newly proliferated pancreatic cells.
