Raman spectra (5–3500 cm1) of polycrystalline samples of NH3(CH2)4NH3PbCl4. have been recorded at different temperatures between 100 and 300 K. A systematic temperature dependence study of the low frequencies v and half-widths Δv1/2 revealed a phase transition at about 200 K. This transition corresponds to an order-disorder mechanism involving NH3 torsional motions coupled with libration of organic chains. In this communication, we shall characterize this transition and discuss its dynamical aspect. © 1991, Taylor & Francis Group, LLC. All rights reserved.
