During the discussions at the Third International Conference on Charged Particle Optics in Toulouse a long debate arose about nine-point formulae for the discretization of Laplace's equation. A favourable form, even suitable for solving Poisson's equation, but still unpublished, is given in this article without derivation. © 1990.
