Despite improvements in surgical techniques and materials, knee arthritis in young active patients continues to pose significant challenges to patients and surgeons. While unicom-partmental and total knee replacements have shown to be relatively durable and effective in improving symptoms, these procedures should not be performed without considering the patients' activity levels and expectations after surgery. The purpose of this review was to evaluate the role of knee osteotomy in the treatment of young patients with unicompartmental arthritis of the knee.
