摘要
Corrosion studies of a powder metallurgy SiC whisker (SiCw)/Al 7091 composite were performed. The plate material heat treated to T-6 and T-7 tempers exhibited preferential corrosion of the surface layers. The regions of corrosion susceptibility resulted from improper processing and thermal treatments. Attempts were made to remove the cold-worked regions and study the corrosion properties. A comparative analysis of the results is discussed.
