LIMITING ACTIVITY-COEFFICIENTS IN THE 1-ALKANOL+N-ALKANE SYSTEMS - A SURVEY OF EXPERIMENTAL-DATA AND THEIR CRITICAL-EVALUATION

A survey of critically evaluated experimental limiting activity coefficients for the 1-alkanol (C1-C10) + n-alkane (C5-C16) systems has been prepared by extracting the data from a database being developed by us under the IUPAC Project on Critical Compilation of Limiting Activity Coefficients in Nonelectrolyte Systems. Various interesting statistical characteristics are inferred from the 1-alkanol + n-alkane data file. Reported here are the number of data and their distribution with respect to time, to the individual systems, to temperature, to the published papers, to the experimental technique employed and to the estimated accuracy. The methods employed for the critical assessment of data are described and exemplified. The comprehensive collection of critically evaluated data is available as supplementary material.
