DENSIFICATION AND MICROSTRUCTURAL STUDIES ON BI1.6PB0.4SR2CA2CU3OY SYSTEM

摘要
In processing oxide superconductors it is important to obtain the highest possible density without having adverse effect on the electric and magnetic properties of the material. The present study reports some of the systematic results on densification, grain growth and other microstructural changes during formation of high Tc phase in Bi1.6Pb0.4Sr2Ca2Cu3Oy system. The samples were prepared by conventional ceramic technique, sintered at 845°C for 20-240 hr. The density in the sample was observed to decrease with the increase in sintering time, though the high Tc (110 K) phase content shows increase through X-ray analysis. The results on critical current density are also discussed. © 1990.
