摘要
Shelton recently observed an anomalous negative dispersion of the hyperpolarizability of Ne. Bishop used experimental moments of oscillator strength distributions to show that the size of the negative dispersion could never be reproduced by theory. Our ab initio multiconfigurational response calculations of the hyperpolarizability exhibit no negative dispersion. We estimate the static hyperpolarizability to be 99(+/- 6) au and challenge the recent experimental result of 119(+/- 3) au by Shelton. A Kerr experiment at 633 nm by Buckingham and Dunmur gave 101(+/- 8) au.
