DEVITRIFICATION OF A HEAVY-METAL FLUORIDE GLASS

摘要
The kinetic parameters of devitrification on reheating for the BIGaZYbTMn glass were determined using a differential scanning calorimeter. Isothermal and non-isothermal methods led to values of the Avrami's exponent between 1.5 and 2.5, corresponding to a diffusion controlled growth of crystals. The apparent activation energy E in all cases was close to 40 kcal/mol, very similar to ZBLAN glass, indicating an excellent stability of this glass to crystallization.
