ACORD is a short FORTRAN program to contour values of a dependent variable against two independent variables in the Cartesian plane, for data taken in any order, by any sampling pattern. This program is useful for initial investigations of raw data because no assumptions or approximations are required to prepare the data, (such as interpolating to a regular grid), and no concavity or convexity of the actual surface is assumed in the contouring. It could also be adapted to improve the efficiency of existing contouring packages by serving as a subroutine to precede smoothing and labelling subroutines.
