LOCAL APPROXIMATIONS TO NONLINEAR EVOLUTION OF DENSITY-FLUCTUATIONS

摘要
We show how the evaluation of any moment of the mass distribution, as given by the Zeldovich approximation, may be reduced to the computation of an integral. In this way we compute the present rms density fluctuation in a cold dark matter model and find it close to its linear value when this value is of order one. The arguments presented here are valid for a set of approximations that we call local approximations, and the expediency of some of them is discussed.
