A photoreversible reduction of Cu(II) (TIM)2+ in 350 nm irradiations of ClRe(CO)3(4-phenylpyridine)2 has been investigated by continuous and flash photolyses. The redox reaction involves a metastable Re complex that is photogenerated in parallel with the lowest lying MLCT. The products of the photoredox reaction undergo back electron transfer in the microsecond-millisecond time domain.
