摘要
This paper discusses the factors which affected the evolution of world's distribution systems, and their divergence, with implications for application in lesser developed countries. It describes the advantages of the 'North American' and 'European' style systems, while recognizing that neither is intrinsically superior. Finally, it brings into focus the need for recognition of legitimate variances in distribution systems and their associated equipment, when developing relevant Standards.
