FREQUENCY-DOMAIN INTERFEROMETER FOR MEASUREMENT OF THE POLARIZATION MODE DISPERSION IN SINGLE-MODE OPTICAL FIBERS

摘要
A new technique based on frequency-domain interferometry has been used to measure the polarization mode dispersion of a birefringent optical fiber. This technique is based on the spectral interference of two, temporally delayed, broadband ultrashort pulses in the frequency domain. Two different configurations are discussed.
