RVB-TYPE STATES IN SYSTEMS WITH CHARGE AND SPIN DEGREES OF FREEDOM - SM3SE4, Y1-XSCXMN2 ETC

Experimental data on systems with charge (Sm3Se4, Fe3O4, Yb4As3) and spin (Y1-xScxMn2) degrees of freedom are analysed, which indicate the formation of a quantum (pseudo) spin liquid state (suppression of long-range order, occurence of an anomalous linear term in the specific heat). A model yielding an anisotropic pseudospin-1/2 Hamiltonian is proposed for systems with charge degrees of freedom. The problem of the coexistence of an RVB-type state and "antiferromagnetic" ordering is discussed. © 1990.
